Get odd looks from friends and work-mates as you stitch your way through your lunch break? Join the club! Grab your lunch and escape to an oasis of creativity right in the middle of town. Perfect if you need a helping hand getting through a speed bump in your project. We have comfy couches, sewing machines and fantastic company!

Revolutionary Workshop: FASHIONISM
Learn to cross stitch and make a mini protest banner about an issue you care about, hang it in a relevant public space to provoke thought and discussion. By making it mini and placing it in an unexpected space others have a sense they have chosen to engage with the message rather than it being forced on them.
Lead by Otago Polytechnic School of Design graduate, craftivist, zero-waste textile practitioner, Fiona Clements, otherwise know as: Senorita AweSUMO. Fiona uses the challenges of sustainable fashion as an opportunity to create unique garments and provide a local solution to global problems. Fiona is co-founder of Just Atelier, Dunedin’s sustainable design support hub and member of the working committee for Fashion Revolution for Australia and New Zealand. Sewing Machine MAINTENANCE
Learn to correctly maintain your home sewing machine. A perfect workshop for overcoming sewing nerves and learning basic sewing techniques, or for experienced sewists to unlock their machines' potential.
NB: You're welcome to bring your own sewing machine (with it's handy maintenance kit), or use one of ours for this workshop. Through using this medium in her art practice over the course of her degree, Lily has become quite familiar and proficient on the subject of crochet. Revolutionary Workshop: RE:FASHION
Taking something apart to make something new can be the perfect way to bring new life to old clothes. This is an all day workshop, or a short introduction to up-cycling depending on the time you have available. Stay for 1 session or the whole day. Tutors will be on hand throughout to inspire, guide and help you. Bring old clothing or any textile item to up-cycle along with any ideas of what you'd like it to become.
